Genesis 2:24 -definition of marriage from the Old Testament

Genesis 2:24 (New American Standard Bible) 24 "For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh."

I have just been thinking about something. This Bible verse that JESUS Christ sites in the New Testament, says that 'two become one flesh.' That is an obvious reference to sex. Marriage is substantially about having a biblically defined sexual relationship with another person in the mutually shared love through grace that GOD provides. This part is not new to my thinking and the thinking of others.

I am not sure if this has been discussed before or not, perhaps it has. The new thought in my mind is as follows. What happens when a husband and wife have sex? The sex will many times result in the couple having children. What are children, like adults made of? Flesh. The children are a product of both the father's physical body and the mother's physical body. So in marriage, children can also be the one flesh that the two flesh (father and mother) become. I don't think it is wrong to see it both ways, because it doesn't contradict anything in biblical teaching to do so. The second outlook here is also a consequence of the action in the traditional way to look at the verse.

I don't assume to be discovering anything with this. It's just a new thought to my brain.
